Learning to Dance in the Rain

Learning to Dance in the Rain

Sunday was both my birthday and Father’s Day. I had an overwhelming number of people wish me a Happy Birthday and I truly had one. At the end of the day I was very overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude. Somewhere around 80 people sent me Happy Birthday greetings via facebook. These were people from every aspect of my life. I was so moved by it that I made … Read entire article »

Daily Intentions, A Key to Having Great Days

Daily Intentions, A Key to Having Great Days

Every day when I wake up, before I even get out of bed, I say to the world, “I greet this day with joy for I am blessed.” I say it with a smile and I say it repeatedly as I head into work. Sometimes I say it out loud. It gets my mind and heart in the right place. Specifically, I am focused on what is positive and good and I … Read entire article »

Ghost Dose #8, Replacing Your Thoughts for Spirit Thoughts

Ghost Dose #8, Replacing Your Thoughts for Spirit Thoughts

Verse: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-25 Meditation: In yesterday’s verse we were urged to set our minds on the Spirit that we might live by … Read entire article »

Ghost Dose #7, Spirit-Walking, Pursuing Peace

Verse: For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:5-6.   Meditation: How you live is a by-product of what you think. We are reminded of this truth in today’s scripture and I am reminded of an old proverb. Sow a thought, reap a deed Sow a deed, reap a habit Sow a habit, reap a character If your life is reflective of the Spirit, then it is almost assuredly true that your reflect on the things of the Spirit in your mind. If … Read entire article »

Eliminate your “to do” list and never “have” to do anything again

“Do all things without grumbling or questioning.”  Phillippians 2:14 So much of whether we experience life as joyful or drudgery depends upon the mindset we choose.  Grumbling whether out loud or with the committee in you head is a sure way to make yourself unnecessarily miserable.  In a recent post on taking mundane chores and making them Christ-centered, I shared two biblical mindsets that are spiritually healthy to adopt:  Do all thing with Gratitude (Col. 3:17), Do all things as if you do them for Christ (Col. 3:23-24). You nurture those mindsets through tiny interventions when you find yourself complaining.  How we frame our work is important as getting it done.  In fact, its more important.  If you go at your work whether it be preaching or cleaning toilets with a reluctant heart that … Read entire article »

Spiritual Peak Performance–Mindsets that Kill It

Yesterday, I was talking on the phone with life coach Brad Denham and he was sharing with me four mindsets that radically limit us.  His area of expertise is peak performance and his coaching focus is on winning your inner game.  As I listened to Brad I realized that what he was describing had huge spiritual implications.  He was describing self-deceptive behaviors that I have seen myself trapped by numerous times.   Specifically, Brad discussed with me rationalizing, complaining, blaming, and judging.  Covering all four of these in one post and doing them any justice isn’t realistic.  So, I am going to address them over a series of posts.  I’ll be bouncing back and forth between this topic and the prayer journaling that I am doing with the youth at … Read entire article »
