Pray with a pen in hand

Often times in prayer I will think of someone I should care for or something I should do. It is aggravating to get done praying, only to find that I either can’t remember or have great intentions that never get realized. I recently adopted the practice of having a note pad and pen handy when I pray. I jot down those items that come to me that seem to beg for attention. When I get done I try to address as many things on my list as immediately as I possibly can.

This practice is helping me as I try to allow my day to be shaped more and more by God directly. It’s such a simple thing, but yet so powerful. Just the sort of practical practice I love.
