I Know Thanks

Last night I chatted with a friend on Facebook. They closed with an “I love you too.” I replied, “I know thanks.” I hit the send before realizing I was missing either a period or a comma between the words “know” and “thanks”. My attention was arrested by that. It struck me as an unwittingly appropriate error.

I am loved and because of that I truly know what gratitude is. Few things fill me with a greater sense of peace, well-being and gratitude than knowing that I am loved. Because I am loved, I know gratitude.

A simple prayer…
Thank you God for giving me love that I might know what it means to have deep abiding gratitude regardless of circumstance. I thank You for your love expressed in Christ and the many people you have surrounded me with that love me more than I deserve. I know this to be true, so thank you and because it is true, I know thanks. Amen.

  1. “gratitude regardless of circumstance” … Something I am so glad that I can practice (and must not forget to practice), in light of our current circumstances. People of faith live focused on God’s power, mercy, blessings and grace. People of fear live focused on the circumstances.

Thank you for your site. Just stumbled upon it — will be gladly returning.

  2. Well said Dan and timely. God is good. This was a very trying week. I haven’t been ill in years and got walloped with a stomach virus that flattened me while trying to manage some serious and significant pastoral issues. This evening I was frumping from fatigue and your reply reminded me that I need to let go of my pity party and be filled with gratitude. “Rejoice in all things, again I say, Rejoice.” Thank you for reading and I hope my site is a continual blessing to me.
